Welcome to 'Woodsong' Chalet- your families home away from home! This fully stocked year-round chalet is nestled in the woods, lakeside and slope-side, within the peaceful and exciting community of Hidden Valley.
Whether you are looking for a relaxing escape, an adventure-filled getaway, or some new scenery to work remotely (we have unlimited reliable high speed internet), Woodsong has it all!
Some quick highlights include:
- Our property is a combination of a flat grassy open backyard with la arge open fire pit surrounded by a well-wooded/naturalized perimeter providing an escape into nature while still being connected to the Hidden Valley community.
- Just a 4 minute walk from our front door brings you to a sandy private beach on Peninsula Lake with a volleyball court, kids play structure and manicured lawn for days at the beach in the summer, or skating in the winter.
- 100 steps from the front door provides easy 'ski-in/ski-out' access to all the slopes at Hidden Valley Resort (yes, it is literally steps from the chalet!)
- Looking for hiking, biking, or snowmobile trails? They are all located nearby.
- 1.8 kms to the golf course at Deerhurst Resort along with a handful of other courses nearby.
- 8 minutes to all the shops and amenities located in downtown Huntsville including your choice of 3 major grocery stores, the Algonquin Theater, Canada Summit Centre, and fantastic pubs and restaurants; also check out The Birches at Hidden Valley (a 3 minute walk away) and Deerhurst (a 15 minute walk) and more!
- Last but certainly not least, Woodsong is centrally positioned to local 'gems' such as Arrowhead Provincial Park (8 kms), Algonquin Provincial Park (30 minutes) , and Limberlost Forest (10 kms). Spend the day playing and exploring in these iconic parks then come back to relax and reflect.
Woodsong is a family-friendly chalet which boasts 3 very spacious upstairs bedrooms, all with relaxing views of the surrounding forest. The kids bedroom is quite large and has a large single-over-double bunk bed (with a hidden twin trundle bed below the bunk) as well as a additional (4th) twin bed. However, the upper balcony off the king master bedroom is sure to become a favourite spot for a morning coffee or evening glass of wine while looking for deer which frequently roam the property! There is also a 3rd full size bedroom featuring a queen sized bed.
The main level features a fully-equipped kitchen, powder room, mudroom, and a very comfortable living space complete with a working fireplace- the perfect place to unwind at the end of the day! Gather for meals around the table in the dining area or enjoy your meals among the trees in the great outdoors in the 3-season screened Muskoka room or on the elevated large back deck while taking-in nature including the fall colours.
The backyard fire pit is another favourite gathering place where many family memories are made all year round.
The fully carpeted basement has a media nook for movie-watching, gaming, as well as a 'kids space' complete with toys and books for younger family members. For those unable to leave work behind, a desk/work station is also located in the basement in close proximity to the internet source.
Travelling with little ones? We know there is no such thing as 'packing light' with them in tow. To help make things easier, Woodsong comes equipped with a highchair, booster seat, folding stroller, and pack 'n play, so you can lighten your load and leave some of your baby items at home!

Summary: We had an amazing time staying at Woodsong! It had everything we need from the kitchen to the bedding to all the big stuff for a 14 month old! James was so helpful and super fast responding during the booking process and during our stay! Beautiful property and beautiful cottage! 100% recommend and hope to go back again!

Summary: Wonderful vacation!! Communication was excellent with hosts. Chalet was well stocked, very clean. Peaceful and private location—we even saw a mother deer and her 2 fawns in the backyard! The beach had nice sand with shallow entry for the kids. I would recommend driving to the beach though, as the terrain is steep. Minutes to town for supplies, delicious ice cream, unique souvenirs. Highly recommend.

Summary: Our multi generation, group of six had an amazing experience at Woodsong. The host James is awesome and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable. The location of the cottage is perfect, just minutes to Hidden Valley resort, beach at Pennisula lake and a quick 10 minutes to Huntsville. The cottage was in pristine condition and has all amenities to ensure a peaceful stay. We loved the ample collection of games, chef's kitchen, comfortable couches to lounge, screened in porch and comfy beds! Our group enjoyed an amazing five days and all agreed we would love to come back.

Summary: Spacious, comfortable and well-equipped. Great fire pit, short drive to the beach or town. A bit noisy sometimes as neighbours do construction work, but overall good fun and good value.

Summary: This cottage was exactly as advertised, and perfect for our getaway with the kids. The location is close to Huntsville and all the nearby parks including Arrowhead Provincial Park and Limberlost forest. Deerhurst is also close by. Skiing would have been extremely convenient, if there had been enough snow. James was a great host, who answered any questions very promptly. Highly recommend this cottage.

Summary: The owners made it really easy for us to have a nice little escape from the every day. They left lots of baby toys and accessories so that we had less to bring with us. We had constant communication with the owners which helped when we had any questions or things we needed to mention. It was a great trip and we’d love to stay again another time.

Summary: A very comfortable and sizeable cottage with lots to do around the area. Bedrooms are large, great deck and outdoor space, nice fire place, very clean and cozy. We would stay here again. Excellent communication with the owner.

Summary: I don’t know where to begin….. everything was fantastic. Easy to get to from the highway. Surroundings were absolutely beautiful although there were other properties close by the beautiful landscape and trees made this a very serene, quiet and private experience. James was very communicative right from the start of the reservation, given the Covid lockdowns with additional requirements and precautions he made us feel very comfortable with travelling and staying at Woodsong. There was lots do do around town and also nice to do next to nothing listening to the birds and trees move in the wind. Beds, pillows and blankets were super comfy and clean. Kitchen was stocked with anything you would need and more…even found a crockpot and air fryer. Bathroom was clean shower was fantastic. The whole family enjoyed themselves. Thank you again.
